Chinese Ambassador to the Bahamas Yan Jiarong Meets with UN Resident Coordinator Mr. Denis Zulu

On 10 June 2025, Her Excellency Yan Jiarong, Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas, met with Mr. Denis Zulu, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Jamaica, The Bahamas, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands and the Turks and Caicos Islands, and Ms. Aneesah Abdullah, the United Nations Country Coordination Officer for The Bahamas. Ambassador Yan emphasized that China has always been a staunch supporter of the United Nations. She pointed out that the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind, high-quality Belt and Road Initiative cooperation and the Three Global Initiatives have provided clear guidance for the Embassy’s support and engagement with UN affairs in The Bahamas. She briefed the UN side on the important consensus and concrete outcomes of the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum, highlighting China’s support for The Bahamas in promoting economic diversification, food security, and public health. The UN side outlined its cooperation with Caribbean countries, including The Bahamas, while commending China’s commitment to multilateralism, its support and assistance for the Global South, and its endeavors in helping The Bahamas to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Both sides also exchanged views on the challenges to the United Nations and the “UN80 Initiative”.
