On June 18, Chinese Ambassador to PNG H.E. Yang Xiaoguang met with Governor for West New Britain Province Hon. Sasindran Muthuvel. They exchanged views on China-PNG relations and subnational cooperation.
Ambassador Yang said that China has always adhered to the principle of “four fully respects” in developing relations with PNG, and the bilateral relationship between the two countries has maintained a sound momentum of development. China stands ready to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with PNG provinces in economy, trade, culture and other fields, working together to further deepen and solidify the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. It is hoped that the PNG side will effectively ensure the safety and legitimate rights of Chinese citizens and companies in PNG, fostering a safe and enabling business environment.
Governor Muthuvel expressed gratitude for China’s support to the economic and social development of West New Britain Province. He said that the province enjoys abundant natural resources and immense potential in agriculture and tourism, and looks forward to deepening cooperation with China in the fields of economy, trade, education and so on to the greater benefit of the local people.
