On July 5, 2019, President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Bangladesh are traditional friendly neighbors. The relations between the two countries were upgraded to a strategic cooperative partnership during my state visit to Bangladesh in 2016. It has promoted bilateral exchanges and cooperation to a new stage of rapid development, injected new impetus into economic and social development in both countries, and also brought more benefits to people of China and Bangladesh. Currently, China and Bangladesh are both at a crucial stage of respective development. Well consolidating and developing the strategic cooperative partnership not only serve the common interests of the two countries and the two peoples, but are also conducive to the prosperity and stability of Asia and the openness and cooperation in the world.

Xi Jinping stressed that the two sides should carry forward traditional friendship and strive to realize cooperative and common development of the two countries. The two sides should give play to the role of political guidance of high-level exchanges and enhance top-level design to ensure continuous and in-depth exchanges and cooperation in various fields. The two sides should maintain exchanges between the two governments, legislative bodies and political parties, strengthen communication and pool consensus on bilateral relations. The Chinese side appreciates the Bangladeshi side's valuable support for the Chinese side on issues concerning China's core interests and will, as always, firmly support Bangladesh in safeguarding independence and sovereignty, finding a development path that suits its own national conditions and safeguarding political and social stability. China-Bangladesh cooperation enjoys broad prospects and huge potential. The two sides should strengthen cooperation in such key areas as trade, investment, production capacity, energy and power, transportation, information communication, infrastructure construction and agriculture, promote cooperation in digital economy and jointly construct Digital Silk Road. The Chinese side is ready to work with the Bangladeshi side to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in such areas as education, culture, youth and media, inherit and carry forward the traditional friendship between China and Bangladesh. The Chinese side stands ready to continuously support Bangladesh in counter-terrorism and law enforcement capacity building.

Sheikh Hasina expressed warm congratulations on the 98th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and congratulated China on the new great achievements it has made under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. Bangladesh cherishes the friendly relationship between Bangladesh and China forged by the elder generations of leaders of the two countries, firmly supports the one-China policy and thanks the Chinese side for its long-term and valuable support. In the course of realizing the dream of "Sonar Bangla" proposed by Bangladesh's founding father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Bangladeshi side expects China's continuous support to improve bilateral trade and investment and deepen the cooperation in such areas as infrastructure construction, digital economy, addressing climate change and counter-terrorism and security. Bangladesh is ready to learn from China's experience in state governance and administration, actively participate in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and promote the construction of Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor.
