On July 5, 2019, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with Foreign Minister A. K. Abdul Momen of Bangladesh.

Wang Yi noted that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to China was very successful with fruitful results. Just as what President Xi Jinping said to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today, China and Bangladesh are sincere friends who always understand and support each other. Through this visit, leaders of the two countries have enhanced friendship and reached important consensus, charting the course for the further development of bilateral relations.

A. K. Abdul Momen expressed that I fully agreed on State Councilor Wang Yi's view on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to China. This visit has further enhanced China-Bangladesh friendship and strengthened bilateral bonds. The Bangladeshi side is grateful for the long-term and valuable support from the Chinese side, and stands ready to work with the Chinese side to further enhance the strategic partnership, deepen practical cooperation in various areas, and further intensify coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs.

The two sides exchanged views on issues regarding the Rakhine State. Wang Yi underlined that China, as a good friend of both Bangladesh and Myanmar, has followed closely the development of the issue and tried its utmost to mediate. China encourages both countries to strengthen communication and integration and handle differences properly for early and smooth repatriation of the first batch of displaced persons. This is in the common interests of Bangladesh, Myanmar and the region. The Chinese side is willing to continue to offer necessary assistance in this regard. A. K. Abdul Momen said that the Bangladeshi side appreciates the constructive role of the Chinese side in addressing the issue of the Rohingya people and is willing to step up the repatriation of the first batch of displaced persons as soon as possible.
