On July 29, 2021, Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Liu Jinsong met with Bangladeshi Ambassador to China Mahbub Uz Zaman. The two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations and the joint fight against COVID-19.

Liu Jinsong said, China and Bangladesh were connected by the "Southern Silk Road" in history, and today both sides are co-building the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor. Under the care of several generations' leaders of the two countries, the friendship between China and Bangladesh has been passed on from one generation to another, and the relationship between the two countries has been advancing. True friendship stands out in difficult times. China and Bangladesh have sincerely helped each other in the pandemic battle, further deepening the friendship between the two countries. I appreciate your foreign minister's special letter to State Councilor Wang Yi, which extended his condolences on the flooding in Henan, China. You have made every effort to advance the friendship between the two countries after assuming the post of ambassador, and emphasized in an interview in May that it is all the more necessary for Bangladesh and China to work in solidarity in more difficult times. I would like to express my appreciation for this. China is willing to strengthen anti-pandemic cooperation with Bangladesh, engage in cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, and support each other's development and revitalization efforts.

Zaman said, I listened to the speech delivered by President Xi Jinping at the ceremony celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China on the spot and strongly admired China's realization of the first centenary goal and complete victory in eliminating absolute victory. Bangladesh sincerely thanked China for providing the country with much-needed vaccines at a critical moment in the fight against COVID-19, and lauded China's practical actions to support the international community's anti-pandemic efforts. Bangladesh is willing to work with China to maintain the positive momentum in the development of relations between the two countries since President Xi Jinping's visit to Bangladesh in 2016, implement major cooperation projects, and safeguard and expand the common interests of both countries.
