Recently, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Foreign Minister Ri Son-gwon of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) exchanged New Year congratulatory messages.

In his congratulatory message, Wang Yi once again congratulated on the successful convening of the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea and the Fourth Session of the 14th Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK.

Wang Yi said that in recent years, under the strategic guidance and promotion of General Secretary Xi Jinping and General Secretary Kim Jong-un, China-DPRK relations witnessed thriving development. In the new year, China is ready to have close communication with the DPRK, implement the important consensus reached by the top leaders of the two parties and countries, and promote further progress in bilateral relations, to better benefit the two countries and their peoples.

Ri Son-gwon said in his congratulatory message that he believes under the close cooperation of the two foreign ministries, the traditional friendly cooperation between the DPRK and China will continue to make good progress.
