On the evening of July 31 local time, the Shangri-la Hotel in Kuala Lumpur was decorated with lanterns and streamers and full of joy. The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games Bid Delegation hosted a reception in the hotel to warmly celebrate Beijing's success in winning the right to host the 2022 Olympic Winter Games.

More than 600 people attended the reception, including over 40 committee members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), such as President Thomas Bach, Vice President Craig Reedie, and Executive Board members Patrick Joseph Hickey and Juan Antonio Samaranch, Malaysian Prime Minister's Special Envoy to China Ong Ka Ting, Minister in Prime Minister's Department Wee Ka Siong, celebrities from all circles of Malaysia, overseas Chinese people, overseas Chinese students, representatives of Chinese-funded institutions and others.

Liu Yandong, Vice Premier and head of Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games Bid Delegation, attended the reception and delivered a speech. Liu Yandong first read the congratulatory message from President Xi Jinping. Liu Yandong said that after the successful bid for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, President Xi Jinping specially sent a congratulatory message, and Premier Li Keqiang called to express his congratulation. The Chinese leaders' warm congratulations on winning the bid and earnest expectation on successfully hosting the 2022 Olympic Winter Games show that the Chinese government attach great importance to developing athletic undertakings and promoting the Olympic Movement.

On behalf of the Chinese government and the Chinese people, Liu Yandong expressed gratitude to the IOC and its committee members for their trust in China, and to compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, overseas Chinese people, and international friends for their support, and extended sincere greetings to all the people who have devoted their wisdom and sweat to bidding for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

Liu Yandong said that Beijing's hosting of the 2022 Winter Olympic Games will help achieve the goal of building a healthy China and make more new contributions to the development of the global Olympic Movement. We will take the winning of the hosting right as a new starting point, under the guidance of the IOC, hold the ideas of "hosting the Games sustainably and economically with athletes at the center" and make preparations through down-to-earth efforts so as to present the world an exciting, excellent and extraordinary Winter Olympic Games.

Thomas Bach expressed his warm congratulations in his speech on Beijing's winning bid to host the 2022 Winter Olympic Games and on its outstanding performance in the bid process. Thomas Bach said that Beijing will be the first city to both have hosted the Summer Olympic Games and also to host the Winter Olympic Games.

Chinese people are hospitable, efficient and practical and it is believed that the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games will achieve a great success. The IOC is willing to continue to work closely with China, to promote all the preparation work of the Games, and to make sure that Beijing will host the splendid Olympic Winter Games.

Guests present at the reception came to shake hands with members of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games Bid Delegation, expressed congratulations to the Chinese delegation on their outstanding performance, and celebrated the second fulfillment of China's Olympic dream. They all said that they will work together to support Beijing to host the 2022 Winter Olympics Games to be a successful and wonderful Olympic event.

Liu Peng, Director of the General Administration of Sport of China and President of the Chinese Olympic Committee, Wang Anshun, Mayor of Beijing and President of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games Bid Committee, and others attended the reception.

On that evening, Liu Yandong also attended the reception for bidding cities held by the IOC.
