The First Meeting of the China-Pakistan-Iran Trilateral Consultation on Counter-Terrorism and Security Held in Beijing

On June 7, 2023, Director-General of the Department of External Security Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Bai Tian, Assistant Foreign Minister and Director-General of the South Asia Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran Seyyed Rasoul Mousavi, and Director-General for Counter-Terrorism at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan Abdul Hameed jointly held the first meeting of the China-Pakistan-Iran trilateral consultation on counter-terrorism and security at the director-general level in Beijing. The three sides had an in-depth exchange of views on regional counter-terrorism situations, joint efforts to crack down on cross-border terrorists, and other issues. Based on the results of the meeting, the three sides decided to hold the trilateral consultation on counter-terrorism and security on a regular basis.

On the same day, Assistant Foreign Minister Nong Rong had a group meeting with Mousavi and Hameed. Additionally, bilateral consultations and exchanges on counter-terrorism were respectively held between China and Pakistan, and between China and Iran.
