The Chinese side is deeply shocked and hereby expresses its strong dissatisfaction over the shooting incident of the Chinese fishermen by the Philippine coastal guards in the South China Sea. After the incident, the Chinese side has lodged its insistent solemn representation with the Philippine diplomatic authority. The Chinese Embassy has also sent officials to visit the detained Chinese crewmembers. The Chinese side demands an early release of the fishing boat and the crewmembers by the Philippine side, preserve the corpse of the deceased, compensate the loses in accordance with international practice, and take measures to prevent recurrence of incident. The Philippine side has expressed that it would handle the incident properly. We hope that the Philippine side would work with the Chinese side to promote the sound and healthy development of the bilateral relations.
