Q: Madame Arroyo has sworn in as President of the Philippines. What's your comment on it?

A: We have received the note on Madame Arroyo's succession as president from the embassy of the Philippines to China. As friend of the Chinese people, Madame Arroyo paid a successful visit to China last year. China and the Philippines are friendly neighbors and have traditional friendship between the two countries. It is the set policy of the Chinese Government to develop the friendly relations and cooperation with the Philippines. We will, as always, work together with the Government of the Philippines and its people to further deepen the good-neighborly relations, mutual trust and mutually beneficial cooperation in all fields between the two countries.
