On October 13, 2026, MFA Coordinator for Cyber and Digital Affairs Wang Lei paid a courtesy call on Second Permanent Secretary Foo Chi Hsia of Singaporean Ministry of Digital Development and Information while attending the Singapore International Cyber Week. The two sides had an exchange of views on issues including China-Singapore relations and addressing the impact of AI on cybersecurity.

Wang Lei said that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of our two countries, China-Singapore relations have continued to move forward. Nowadays, the development of AI is profoundly reshaping the global cybersecurity paradigm. An open digital and intelligent ecosystem is key to safeguarding global cyber resilience. Digital sovereignty of all countries should be fully respected. A certain country has fabricated politicized narratives such as so-called “cyber risks” , trustworthy supply chain or distillation to suppress technological development of other countries, pursuing selfish gains at the cost of global resilience. China and Singapore should support openness and oppose monopoly, advocate digital sovereignty and reject digital hegemony, jointly advance global digital and intelligence governance, and safeguard global cybersecurity.

Foo Chi Hsia spoke highly of Singapore-China relations and digital and intelligent cooperation between the two countries, and stressed the importance of an open ecosystem.

The Singaporean side is committed to continuously strengthening its relations with China, and is willing to enhance exchanges and cooperation between the two countries across the board.
