Zhao Leji Meets Respectively with President of Vietnam, President of Kazakhstan, and Prime Minister of Thailand

On October 17, 2023, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Zhao Leji met in Beijing respectively with President of Vietnam Vo Van Thuong, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and Prime Minister of Thailand Srettha Thavisin.

When meeting with Vo Van Thuong, Zhao Leji said that this year marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. Under the strategic guidance of General Secretary Xi Jinping and General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, bilateral relations are running at a high level, and the two countries are committed to building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance. The two sides should take the alignment between the Belt and Road Initiative and the "Two Corridors, One Economic Belt" as the mainstay, and push cooperation in major fields to yield more outcomes. The National People's Congress of China is ready to work with the National Assembly of Vietnam to implement the important common understandings reached by the leaders of the two parties and countries and bilateral cooperation agreements, strengthen exchanges between legislatures at all levels, and promote the in-depth development of comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

Vo Van Thuong said that growing relations with China is always a strategic choice and a top priority of the Party and the government of Vietnam. Vietnam will continue to actively participate in Belt and Road cooperation, and stands ready to strengthen practical cooperation with China in various fields, consolidate political mutual trust between the two countries, and elevate Vietnam-China relations to a new level.

When meeting with Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Zhao Leji said that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative put forth by President Xi Jinping. Over the past ten years, Belt and Road cooperation between China and Kazakhstan has been a pioneer and always the forerunner in the international community, yielding a great number of tangible outcomes and benefiting the people of the two countries. The National People's Congress of China is ready to work with the Parliament of Kazakhstan to implement the common understandings reached by the two heads of state, strengthen the strategic alignment between Belt and Road cooperation and the new economic policy of the Bright Road initiative, give play to the advantages and role of legislatures, and enhance exchanges and cooperation at all levels and in various fields, so as to make contribution to deepening the development of permanent comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that over the past 10 years since its inception, the Belt and Road Initiative has made world-recognized tremendous achievements. Kazakhstan attaches great importance to growing the Kazakhstan-China permanent comprehensive strategic partnership, and stands ready to work with China for high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and advance cooperation between the two countries in various fields, so as to take friendly relations between the two countries to a new high.

When meeting with Srettha Thavisin, Zhao Leji said that China and Thailand are good neighbors linked by mountains and rivers, good relatives sharing close affinity, and good partners sharing weal and woe. China congratulates the new National Assembly and Cabinet of Thailand on successfully assuming their posts, and stands ready to deepen political mutual trust with Thailand, and continue to firmly support each other, join hands in building a China-Thailand community with a shared future, and take the China-Thailand comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to a new level. The National People's Congress of China is ready to maintain friendly exchanges with the National Assembly of Thailand through multiple channels and in various fields to provide legal safeguards for bilateral cooperation, including Belt and Road cooperation.

Srettha Thavisin said that the Thai government attaches great importance to developing friendly relations between Thailand and China, admires China's tremendous achievements in development, and stands ready to work with China to deepen Belt and Road cooperation, intensify personnel exchanges and people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and constantly improve the well-being of the people of the two countries.
