Li Qiang Holds Talks with Prime Minister of Thailand Srettha Thavisin

On the afternoon of October 18, 2023, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council held talks at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse with Prime Minister of Thailand Srettha Thavisin who is in China to attend the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and pay an official visit to China.

Li Qiang said that China and Thailand are close and friendly neighbors. President Xi Jinping paid a visit to Thailand last year, and the two sides announced the building of a China-Thailand community with a shared future for enhanced stability, prosperity, and sustainability, giving China-Thailand friendship a new connotation of the times. China is ready to work with Thailand to adhere to good neighborliness and friendship, firmly support each other on issues involving each other's core interests, and take high-quality Belt and Road cooperation as the mainstay to guide cooperation in various fields constantly to new levels and to yield new results.

Li Qiang pointed out that China firmly supports Thailand in following a development path suited to its own national conditions, and stands ready to work with Thailand to advance the implementation of the vision of interconnected development of China, Laos, and Thailand to elevate the level of connectivity, promote trade and investment facilitation and strengthen cooperation in such fields as digital economy, new energy vehicles, clean energy, and 5G, jointly establish a secure, unimpeded and sustainable tourism market, carry out cooperation in cracking down online gambling and telecom fraud, repatriating corrupt fugitives and recovering criminals' illegal proceeds, and deepen people-to-people and cultural exchanges in education, and the youth, among others. China is ready to strengthen communication and coordination with Thailand under the mechanisms such as ASEAN and Lancang-Mekong Cooperation, adhere to true multilateralism and open regionalism, actively implement the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative, safeguard the common interests of countries in the region, and safeguard international fairness and justice.

Srettha Thavisin warmly congratulated China on successfully hosting the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and said that Thailand-China relations are very close and the two countries are all-weather friends. Thailand is committed to the one-China principle and is ready to actively participate in Belt and Road cooperation, and deepen cooperation with China in such fields as trade, investment, railway, tourism, people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to push Thailand-China relations to higher levels.

After the talks, Premier Li and Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin jointly witnessed the signing of multiple bilateral cooperation documents in Belt and Road cooperation, diplomacy, digital economy, customs, movies, and culture, among others.
