Foreign Minister Wang Yi Talks about the Particularity, Stability and Importance of China-Thailand Relationship

Thailand is an important country in the region and is an important friendly neighbor and strategic partner of China. Talking about the reason for selecting Thailand as the first stop of his visit, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that because he considered China-Thailand relationship particular, stable and important.

During the meeting with Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra in Bangkok on May 1, visiting Foreign Minister Wang summed up the three significant characteristics of China-Thailand relationship.

Wang said that particularity refers to the fact that China and Thailand are not only partners, friends, but also relatives. It is well-known that Chinese and Thais are brothers and relatives. Relatives should see and meet each other frequently; stability means that regardless of what happened to their domestic and external situations, China-Thailand friendship has never ceased and has always maintained commendably stable development; importance indicates that both sides have placed such a relationship in an important position in their foreign relations. China-Thailand relationship is always in the front ranks of China's relations with neighboring countries and plays an exemplary role in promoting the development of relations between China and ASEAN as a whole.

Wang expressed the hope that the visit could deepen the good-neighborly friendship and pragmatic cooperation between China and Thailand, make the bilateral relationship better and closer, and upgrade Sino-Thai comprehensive strategic partnership to a new level.
