On February 15, 2023, Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu met with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani. The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to restoring the full and effective implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action and stressed that all parties concerned should stay committed to the right approach of dialogue and negotiation, restart negotiations at an early date and reach an agreement. The two sides agreed to maintain close communication and coordination and actively advance the process of political and diplomatic settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue.

The two sides also exchanged views on other international and regional issues of mutual interest and concern.
