From December 8 to 10, 2019, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue Zhai Jun visited Israel, during which he met with Foreign Minister Israel Katz of Israel. They exchanged views on bilateral relations, the Palestinian issue and other regional hotspot issues.

Special Envoy Zhai Jun also had discussions with scholars from Geneva Initiative, the Israeli Institute for Regional Foreign Policies, the Institute for National Security Studies, the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies, Harry S. Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace and other think tanks.

During his stay in Israel, Special Envoy Zhai Jun gave a joint interview to Chinese and foreign media including Xinhua News Agency, China Radio International, The Jerusalem Post, Israel Today, i24News, and Channel 13.
