On June 22, 2017 local time, King Abdullah II Bin Al-Hussein of Jordan met in Amman with Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who was in Jordan for an official visit.

Abdullah II Bin Al-Hussein firstly asked Wang Yi to convey his warm greetings to President Xi Jinping. Wang Yi conveyed President Xi Jinping’s best wishes to King Abdullah II Bin Al-Hussein.

Abdullah II Bin Al-Hussein said that Jordan and China enjoy special relations that have made positive progress since both countries upgraded bilateral relations to a strategic partnership. Firmly supporting the one-China policy, the Jordanian side stands ready to, together with China, further enhance political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation, speed up the advancement of cooperation project in economy, trade, investment, infrastructure and other fields, and strengthen communication and coordination in security and anti-terrorism, in a bid to make joint contributions to safeguarding regional peace and stability.

Wang Yi expressed that this year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Jordan, on which the two heads of state exchanged congratulatory messages not long ago, charting the course for the further development of bilateral relations. My visit this time is to effectively implement the strategic partnership established by the two heads of state. For a long time, China and Jordan have always accommodated each other on issues concerning respective core interests. China firmly supports Jordan’s efforts in safeguarding stability, reform and development, and appreciates the Jordanian side’s stance on the one-China policy, which will further consolidate bilateral political mutual trust and traditional friendship.

Wang Yi said that in recent years, the situation in West Asia and North Africa has remained turbulent. Under the leadership of His Majesty, Jordan has safeguarded domestic security and stability, pushed forward the process of political reform, improved the living standard of its people, accepted a large number of Syrian refugees, and played a constructive role in maintaining regional peace and stability. China is willing to take the 40th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations as an opportunity and ride on the wings of the joint construction of the “Belt and Road” to deepen bilateral practical cooperation in various fields and open up a new situation for China-Jordan strategic partnership.
