On January 3, 2018, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held telephone talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi of Jordan at request.

Ayman Safadi stressed that the Jordanian side attaches great importance to relations with China and will firmly adhere to the one-China principle and respect the cores interests of the Chinese side. The Jordanian side warmly welcomes and positively responds to the Belt and Road Initiative, and is willing to further conduct cooperation with the Chinese side.

Both sides also exchanged views on the current situation in the Middle East, especially the Palestinian issue.
