China's Special Envoy on the Middle East Issue Gong Xiaosheng Visits Lebanon

On September 19, 2014, during his visit to Lebanon, Special Envoy on the Middle East Issue Gong Xiaosheng met in Beirut with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri of Lebanon, Prime Minister Tammam Salam of Lebanon, and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Gebran Bassil of Lebanon respectively, and exchanged views on regional hot-spot issues. Charge d'affaires ad interim Han Jing of the Chinese Embassy in Lebanon participated in relevant activities.

Gong Xiaosheng said that China is deeply concerned and worried about the current tensions and sanguinary conflicts in the Middle East, and calls for a peaceful settlement of the Palestinian, Syrian and other regional hot-spot issues through political means. Lebanon has always played a unique role in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East, and the Chinese side is willing to work with Lebanon and other countries in the region to make positive contributions to promoting the political settlement of regional hot-spot issues.

The Lebanese side highly appreciates that China always upholds a fair and balanced stance in the Palestinian and other regional hotspot issues, thanks for the long-term help and support provided by the Chinese side to Lebanon, and expects the Chinese side to continue to play a constructive role in realizing regional peace and stability.
