On August 9, 2020, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government for the Middle East Zhai Jun attended the international conference on support to Beirut and the Lebanese people via videolink and delivered a speech. Special Envoy Zhai Jun expressed his sympathies over the huge explosions in Lebanon, and called on the international community to provide more humanitarian aid for Lebanon, actively advance post-disaster reconstruction, and attach high importance to epidemic prevention and control. The Chinese side is willing to continue to provide assistance within China's capacity for the Lebanese side according to its needs.
