On November 29, 2018, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue Gong Xiaosheng attended and addressed the commemoration of the International Day of Solidarity with the People of Palestine.

Gong Xiaosheng expressed that President Xi Jinping yesterday sent a congratulatory message to the Observance of the International Day of Solidarity with the People of Palestine of the United Nations for the sixth consecutive year, which fully embodies the high importance attached by the Chinese side to the Palestinian issue.

Gong Xiaosheng emphasized that the Chinese side has always firmly supported and promoted the peace process in the Middle East, supported the Palestinian people's just cause of restoring the legitimate national rights, supported the establishment of an independent Palestinian state enjoying full sovereignty on the basis of the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, and supported all efforts conducive to easing the Palestine-Israel situation and realizing the "two-state solution" at an early date.

The commemoration was co-hosted by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Palestinian Embassy in China. At the commemoration scene, Gong Xiaosheng also jointly unveiled the commemorative envelope with Palestinian Ambassador to China Fariz Mehdawi.
