Li Qiang Meets with Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov

On the afternoon of October 8, 2023, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council met in Hangzhou with Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov who was in China to attend the closing ceremony of the 19th Asian Games.

Li Qiang said that China and Uzbekistan are close neighbors sharing weal and woe. In May this year, President Xi Jinping and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a productive meeting, agreeing upon the building of a community with a shared future between China and Uzbekistan, and further charting the course for the development of bilateral relations. China is ready to work with Uzbekistan to constantly translate the important common understandings reached by the two heads of state into concrete actions and outcomes, and continuously enrich China-Uzbekistan comprehensive strategic partnership in the new era.

Li Qiang pointed out that China will, as always, firmly support Uzbekistan in safeguarding national sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, and following a development path suited to its own national conditions. China is ready to work with Uzbekistan to take Belt and Road cooperation as the mainstay to fully leverage the role of the intergovernmental cooperation committee between the two countries, enhance the synergy of development strategies, expand economic and trade cooperation, enhance connectivity, upgrade energy cooperation, and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in various fields across the board. China encourages Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in Uzbekistan, and supports Uzbekistan in establishing an innovation economic zone. The two sides should strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges and cooperation in education, culture and tourism, sports, and medical health, among others. China is ready to work with Uzbekistan and other Central Asian countries to implement the outcomes of the China-Central Asia Summit, advance cooperation in such key fields as investment, economy and trade, and connectivity, and build a closer China-Central Asia community with a shared future.

Abdulla Aripov congratulated China on successfully hosting the Asian Games in Hangzhou, and said that China has made world-recognized achievements in its economic and social development. Uzbekistan highly values its comprehensive strategic partnership with China, remains committed to the one-China principle, firmly supports and actively participates in Belt and Road cooperation. Uzbekistan stands ready to learn from China's experience in deepening reform, expanding opening up, and advancing Chinese modernization across the board, further deepen cooperation between the two countries in various fields on the basis of equality, friendliness, mutual benefit and win-win results, jointly combat the three forces of terrorism, separatism and extremism, and promote China-Central Asia cooperation, so as to elevate Uzbekistan-China relations to a new level.
