On January 19, 2024, Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong met with Uzbek Deputy Foreign Minister Bobur Usmanov. The two sides had an exchange of views on the preparations for President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's state visit to China.

Sun Weidong said, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Uzbekistan relations have entered a "golden period" and the cooperation in various fields has achieved many tangible results. Upon President Xi Jinping's invitation, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will soon pay a state visit to China, and the development of bilateral relations will embrace new and important historical opportunities. China is willing to work closely with Uzbekistan to compare notes and ensure the full success of the visit and set a new milestone in the development of China-Uzbekistan relations.

Bobur Usmanov thanked the Chinese side for its preparations for President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit to China, saying that Uzbekistan is willing to work closely with the Chinese side to ensure that the visit is carried out at the highest level and push for new and greater development of Uzbekistan-China relations.
