On September 10, 2021, Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Liu Jinsong met with Ambassador of Egypt to China Mohamed Elbadri at the latter's request. The two sides had a comprehensive and in-depth exchange of views on the Afghan issue. Liu Jinsong elaborated on China's policy towards Afghanistan and highlighted the success of the First Foreign Ministers' Meeting on the Afghan Issue Among the Neighboring Countries of Afghanistan held recently. Liu pointed out that it is necessary for the international community to guide and urge the Afghan Taliban to unite people from all ethnic groups, factions, regions and social strata in Afghanistan, build a broad, inclusive and representative political framework, pursue moderate and prudent domestic and foreign policies, make a clean break with terrorist forces, and establish and develop friendly relations with other countries, especially neighboring countries. As the Arabic proverb says, "The difference between impossibility and possibility lies in a man's determination." China hopes that the Afghan Taliban will have such determination.
