President of the Central African Republic Bozize Meets with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhai Jun

On May 7, 2011, President of the Central African Republic Francois Bozize met with visiting Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhai Jun in Bangui.

During the meeting, Zhai conveyed President Hu Jintao's cordial greetings and good wishes to Bozize. He said the relations between the two countries have been developing smoothly in recent years with political equality and mutual trust, sound coordination and cooperation in international affairs and fruitful cooperation on economy, trade, culture, education and health. China attaches importance to developing friendly cooperative relations with the Central African Republic and is ready to work with the country to further build up political mutual trust, deepen exchanges and cooperation in all areas and push forward bilateral ties.

Bozize thanked for President Hu's congratulatory message on his reelection. He said over the years, the Chinese government and people have been offering sincere and friendly assistance to the national construction of the Central African Republic, for which his country is grateful. He believed that China will as always support his country's economic and social development. The world today is undergoing major changes and adjustments. Africa needs more such a sincere friend like China. There is huge potential in cooperation between the two countries. He hoped both sides would further expand pragmatic cooperation and bring benefits to both peoples. Bozize reaffirmed that the government of the Central African Republic will continue to adhere to the one-China policy.

On the same day, Zhai also held talks with Antoine Gambi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Central African Republic, exchanging views on bilateral ties as well as issues of common concern. Both sides also signed the economic and technological cooperation agreement between the two governments.
