Wang Yi Holds Talks with Foreign Minister Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo of Cameroon

On January 13 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Foreign Minister Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo of Cameroon in Yaoundé.

Wang Yi said since the establishment of the diplomatic relationship between China and Cameroon, the bilateral relations have maintained healthy and rapid development, the foundation of political mutual trust has been consolidated, economic and trade cooperation has generated fruitful results and more in-depth cooperation has been conducted with more and more areas involved. China has become the largest trading partner of Cameroon and Cameroon is one of the African countries that use the most Chinese concessional loans to conduct infrastructure construction cooperation. The people-to-people and cultural exchanges between China and Cameroon are dynamic and more and more Cameroonian young people are willing to learn Chinese, which is conducive to further consolidating the public opinion basis of the China-Cameroon relations.

Wang Yi said both China and Cameroon are at a critical stage of development. Your country is working to achieve the development goal of becoming an emerging country by 2035, and China is striving for the realization of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Both countries can totally work together to achieve common development and common prosperity. China is willing to carry out the correct viewpoint of righteousness and benefit proposed by President Xi Jinping in its cooperation with Cameroon, and in accordance with the principle of mutual benefit and win-win results and the development needs of the Cameroonian side, China will constantly expand and deepen practical cooperation in various areas, make innovation in the areas and ways of cooperation and strengthen coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs so as to better connect the two countries' development strategies and to elevate China-Cameroon cooperation to a new level.

Mbonjo said China is an old and good friend of Cameroon. Since the establishment of the diplomatic relationship, the development of friendly cooperative relations between the two countries can be regarded as a good model. Foreign Minister Wang Yi's visit once again proved the friendship between Cameroon and China. The Cameroonian side attaches great importance to developing relations with China and is willing to make joint efforts with the Chinese side to deepen bilateral practical cooperation, strengthen coordination and cooperation in regional peace and security including counter-terrorism and counter-piracy as well as in international affairs including the United Nations so as to constantly push forward the bilateral relations for new development.
