Xi Jinping Meets with Prime Minister Philemon Yang of Cameroon

On June 19, 2015, President Xi Jinping met at the Great Hall of the People with Prime Minister Philemon Yang of Cameroon.

Xi Jinping noted that Cameroon is good partner of China. China attaches great importance to its relations with Cameroon and is satisfied with the development of bilateral relations. During your visit to China, you held fruitful talks on promoting friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation in all fields with the Chinese side, reaching broad consensus. Both sides should join efforts to promote China-Cameroon mutually beneficial cooperation and better benefit the two peoples.

Xi Jinping stressed that China and Cameroon should carry forward traditional friendship, intensify the exchanges between the governmental departments, political parties and legislative bodies of the two sides, enhance political mutual trust, continue the mutual understanding and support on issues concerning each other’s core interests and major concerns, and safeguard the common interests of both sides. China is grateful to Cameroon for its consistent adherence to the One China policy. The two sides should connect the development strategies of both sides, and constantly expand practical cooperation in industry, agriculture, energy, resources, regional aviation, infrastructure construction, human resources development and all other sectors, so as to promote mutually beneficial cooperation between the two sides to a new high. China supports Cameroon's push for self-driven and sustainable development. Both sides should intensify people-to-people and cultural exchanges and deepen mutual understanding and cement friendship between youth, women, think tanks, scholars, journalists and all other circles of the society, so as to cement the public opinion and social foundation of bilateral friendship. China is willing to help Cameroon train more professionals urgently needed in its social and economic development.

Xi Jinping stressed that facing the same task of development, China and African countries are a community of common destiny sharing weal and woe. China is ready to boost cooperation with African nations to implement the concept of win-win cooperation in every aspect of China-Africa relations. China will uphold the concept of "sincerity, real results, affinity and good faith" and correct viewpoint of righteousness and benefit in its cooperation with Africa and support African nations with their self-development capabilities, so as to make the new type of China-Africa strategic partnership better benefit the two peoples. China and African nations should join efforts to make new and greater contributions to promoting the building of a new type of international relations with win-win cooperation at the core and advancing the international order and system toward a more just and reasonable direction.

Philemon Yang noted that Cameroon attaches great importance to Cameroon-China relations, firmly pursues the One China policy and is grateful to China for its assistance and support in the economic and social development of Cameroon. Under the new circumstance, Cameroon hopes to further cement bilateral relations and boost bilateral cooperation in industry, raw material processing, infrastructure, education, and science and technology. The Cameroonian government will take further measures to provide more convenience and conditions for foreign investors. Cameroon also is willing to further promote friendly cooperative relations between African nations and the Chinese side within the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
