Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Ming Visits Cameroon

From June 26 to 28, 2017, Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Ming visited Cameroon, met with President Paul Biya of Cameroon, and held talks with Minister of External Relations Lejeune Mbella Mbella of Cameroon, exchanging in-depth views on bilateral relations, mutually beneficial cooperation and international and regional issues of common concern.

Zhang Ming said that Cameroon is a traditional friendly country and important cooperation partner of China in Africa. In recent years, China-Cameroon political mutual trust has been enhanced day by day, and favorable results have been achieved in various fields. Cameroon has become one of the countries enjoying the closest cooperation with China in people-to-people and cultural exchanges. The Chinese side is willing to, together with Cameroon, integrate cooperation concepts, facilitate more rapid and vast implementation of the outcomes from the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Cameroon, and comprehensively elevate cooperation levels in various fields, so as to benefit the two peoples.

The Cameroonian side expressed that in recent years bilateral mutually beneficial and practical cooperation has delivered fruitful outcomes, fully embodying the high level of bilateral relations. Cameroon feels gratified with the results and is full of confidence in the cooperation prospects between the two countries. The country stands ready to join efforts with China to deepen political mutual trust, expand cooperation in such major fields as industry, agricultural modernization and infrastructure construction, and intensify people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to propel bilateral relations to constantly write new chapters.

During the visit, Zhang Ming gave an interview to the local mainstream media such as Cameroon Radio Television, attended the hand-over ceremony of the China-assisted rehabilitation of the Yaounde congress center, inspected bilateral cooperation projects such as Cameroon Yaounde Multi-functional Stadium, Yaounde-Nsimalen Airport Expressway, and visited and paid condolence to Chinese medical team in Cameroon.
