Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Xu Jinghu Meets with President Azali Assoumani of Comoros

On December 2, 2019, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Xu Jinghu, who was attending the Development Partners Conference for Comoros in Paris, met with President Azali Assoumani of Comoros.

Special Representative Xu Jinghu said, China-Comoros relations are a model of equality, solidarity and cooperation for large and small countries. The Chinese side is ready to work closely with the Comoros side to cement the alignment of the joint building of the Belt and Road Initiative and the implementation of the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation with Comoros' 2030 Development Plan for Emerging Economies, and work with the international community to contribute to the realization of Comoros' 2030 Development Plan for Emerging Economies.

Azali Assoumani welcomed Special Representative Xu Jinghu's attendance at the conference on behalf of the Chinese side, and expressed satisfaction with and felt proud of the continuous development of the traditional friendship between the two countries. The Comoros side regards China as a priority cooperative partner and is willing to continue to support each other with the Chinese side on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns, strengthen practical cooperation in various fields and jointly elevate bilateral friendly cooperative relations to new highs.

The Development Partners Conference for Comoros, co-organized by the government of Comoros, France, the World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme, was attended by nearly 200 people, including representatives from France, Morocco, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Djibouti, the Republic of Korea and Japan, representatives of international and regional organizations such as the European Union, the African Union, the International Monetary Fund and the African Development Bank as well as delegates of financial institutions and enterprises.
