On June 18, 2014, Vice Premier Liu Yandong met in Shanghai with President Denis Sassou-Nguesso of the Republic of Congo, who was in China for the 3rd Annual Conference of the Taihu World Cultural Forum.

Liu Yandong said that as cradles of human civilizations, both China and Africa boast time-honored history and splendid culture. The Republic of Congo is always at the forefront of China-Africa people-to-people and cultural exchanges and cooperation. China stands ready to deepen practical cooperation with the Republic of Congo in education, culture, science and technology and other fields, to enhance the bilateral exchanges and friendly affections, and to continuously advance the bilateral relations at a new historical starting point.

Denis Sassou-Nguesso expressed that the Republic of Congo and China enjoy solid friendship as well as active people-to-people and cultural exchanges and cooperation. The Republic of Congo is willing to join hands with China to promote the bilateral cooperation for greater development.
