On July 5, 2016, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Zhang Dejiang met at the Great Hall of the People with President Denis Sassou-Nguesso of the Republic of Congo.

Zhang Dejiang expressed that the traditional friendship between China and the Republic of Congo remains fresh over time. Both sides regard each other as a sincere friend and reliable partner. During Mr. President’s visit to China this time, you and President Xi Jinping have made overall planning for the development of bilateral relations at the next stage and reached important consensus. China stands ready to, together with the Republic of Congo, promote the early implementation of the ten major China-Africa cooperation plans in the country so as to achieve greater progress in bilateral practical cooperation on existing basis and better benefit the two peoples. The NPC is willing to strengthen friendly exchanges with the Parliament of the Republic of Congo at all levels, conduct exchanges and mutual learning in legislation, state governance and administration and other areas, and provide legal guarantee for bilateral trade, investment and personnel exchanges so as to jointly advance the development of bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

Denis Sassou-Nguesso said that the Republic of Congo and China enjoy profound friendship, mutual trust and mutual support. Admiring China’s great achievements in development and reform, the Republic of Congo is willing to continuously strengthen friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation with China.
