On August 1, 2017, Assistant Foreign Minister Qian Hongshan met with Former Prime Minister Augustin Matata Ponyo Mapon of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, who was visiting China at the invitation of Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs. Both sides exchanged views on relations between both countries and other topics of common concern.
