On December 20, 2018, Assistant Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong met with the visiting Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Cyprien Sylvestre Mamina of the Republic of Congo.

Speaking highly of the traditional friendship between China and the Republic of Congo, Chen Xiaodong expressed that the Chinese side is willing to work with the Congolese side to well implement the important consensus reached by the two Heads of State and the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) to push for continuous and forward-looking development of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

Cyprien Sylvestre Mamina thanked the Chinese side for providing valuable support and assistance for the development and construction of the Republic of Congo over the years and noted that the Congolese side stands ready to continue to deepen friendly exchanges and cooperation in various fields with the Chinese side.

Both sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
