On September 19, 2008, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun met with Harouna Berete, Special Envoy of Guinea’s President & Minister in Charge of Guineans Living Abroad and African Integration.

Berete spoke highly of Guinea-China friendly relations and thanked for China’s long-standing sincere assistance to his country. He, on behalf of Guinean President Conte, invited President Hu Jintao to attend the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of Guinea’s independence and delivered a letter of invitation from President Conte.

Zhai congratulated Guinea on its upcoming 50th independence anniversary and thanked for President Conte’s invitation for President Hu. Zhai emphasized that China values the traditional friendship with Guinea and is ready to work with the country to lift bilateral friendly cooperative relations to a new level.
