On February 27, 2015, Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Ming met with visiting Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Ameen Madani.

Zhang Ming appreciated the contributions made by the OIC to promoting the relations between China and the Islamic states and expressed that China is willing to, together with the OIC, to launch the consultation mechanism at an early date and intensify dialogues on religion and civilization in a continuous manner. The Chinese side welcomes the member states of the OIC to actively participate in the construction of "Belt and Road" and stands ready to boost communication and coordination with the OIC on fighting against the terrorism and anti-extremism issue.

Iyad Ameen Madani said that the OIC attaches great importance to China's status and role and is ready to bring its own influence into play, so as to push the relations between the Islamic states and China for higher level.
