Liberian Acting Chair of the Cabinet Frank Musah Dean Jr. Meets with Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Liu Yuxi

On December 12, 2022, Liberian Acting Chair of the Cabinet and Justice Minister Frank Musah Dean Jr. met with Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Liu Yuxi. The two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest and concern.

Liu Yuxi said that since the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Liberia, bilateral relations have achieved remarkable progress, and practical cooperation between the two countries in various fields has yielded fruitful outcomes. China  appreciates Liberia’s commitment to the one-China principle, and stands ready to work with Liberia to further enhance political mutual trust, render mutual support on issues involving each other's core interests and major concerns, carry out cooperation in various fields on the basis of mutual respect, equal treatment, mutual benefit and win-win results, strengthen communication and coordination in international affairs, safeguard the principle of non-interference in other countries' internal affairs and other basic norms governing international relations, and jointly uphold international fairness and justice.

Dean warmly congratulated President Xi Jinping on his re-election as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and expressed heartfelt admiration for China's historic success in eliminating absolute poverty and great achievements in development. Dean reaffirmed Liberia’s firm commitment to the one-China principle, thanked China for providing Liberia with timely and effective help in its fight against Ebola and COVID-19, and spoke highly of the outcomes of practical cooperation between the two countries in recent years. He said that Liberia cherishes the friendly cooperative relationship with China, welcomes more Chinese enterprises to Liberia to make investment and engage in cooperation in such fields as infrastructure, poverty alleviation, and agriculture, and hopes to further enhance communication with China on international affairs to jointly promote world peace and development.

Special Representative Liu Yuxi paid a friendly visit to Liberia from December 10 to 12 at the latter's invitation. During the visit, he also met with Liberian Acting Foreign Minister Henry B. Fahnbulleh.
