On November 21, 2015, when asked about the death of 3 Chinese compatriots in a Malian hostage-taking incident in KualaLumpur, Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed that we strongly condemn this brutal and inhuman act. Highly concerned about the incident, the Chinese leaders requested us to conduct all necessary work. The Chinese Embassy in Mali will spare no efforts in dealing with relevant matters.

Wang Yi noted that the 3 killed Chinese nationals were engineering technicians, who were in Mali to support the development of Africa and bring benefits to the African people. We are deeply saddened by their unfortunate death and extend our condolences. It is believed that all African people will also strongly condemn and oppose this brutal act.

Wang Yi also said that China always opposes all forms of terrorism in all places and holds that the international community should truly join forces to combat terrorism.
