Despite the great changes in the international situation and the domestic circumstances of the two countries, China-Mozambique relations have been developing smoothly based on mural respect and equality since the establishment of diplomatic ties 36 years ago. He hailed the progress of bilateral relations, citing frequent high-level exchanges, enhanced political trust and mutual understanding and support on major issues concerning each other's core and major interests. China is satisfied with the steady growth of trade cooperation, the implementation of the outcome of President Hu Jintao's visit to Mozambique as well as the measures of the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries regarding Mozambique and fruitful humanities exchanges, he added. "China treasures its relations with Mozambique and is ready to enhance exchanges and cooperation with the country and make concerted efforts for common development," Wu added.

Wu pointed out that China and Mozambique are both developing countries and shoulder the same or similar tasks in the process of modernization. The National People's Congress (NPC) hopes to further enhance exchanges and cooperation with the Mozambican parliament, build up the friendship between both peoples and inject new vitality into China-Mozambique relations, said Wu. He called on the two parliaments to enhance the share of experience in economic development, improving people's livelihoods and governing the country in accordance with law.

Guebuza said in recent years, Mozambique-China relations have been enhanced continuously and the friendship between both sides has been deeply rooted in the hearts of the Mozambican people. He said his country faces the urgent task of developing its economy and shaking off poverty, and hopes to cement strategic cooperation with China to promote its economic and social development. The Mozambican government supports the two parliaments to play a positive role in pushing forward bilateral ties.
