On January 22, 2015, President Xi Jinping extended a condolence message to President Filipe Nyusi over the severe flood disasters in Mozambique. On behalf of the Chinese government and people, Xi Jinping expressed condolences to the victims of the flood and extended sincere sympathies to the bereaved families and flood-stricken people.

Xi Jinping said that China is willing to assist Mozambique in disaster relief, and believes that the Mozambican people will be bound to overcome the natural disasters and rebuild their homeland under the leadership of the Mozambican government.
