President Filipe Nyusi of Mozambique Meets with Wang Yi

On February 2, 2016 local time, President Filipe Nyusi of Mozambique met with Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the presidential palace in Maputo.

Filipe Nyusi expressed that Mozambique-China friendship has a solid foundation. China has for years vigorously helped Mozambique’s development in all fields and thus enjoys a good reputation in the country. In the new era, China actively devotes to expanding cooperation with Mozambique, by which the Mozambican people are elated and inspired. Mozambique will carry out cooperation with China in such areas as energy, manufacturing, infrastructure construction, agriculture and security, so as to bring welfare to its people. Leaders of African countries spoke highly of the ten cooperation plans oriented to Africa put forward by President Xi Jinping at the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). China is a country that suits the action to the word and its help will bring new hope to Africa’s future development.

Wang Yi said that China and Mozambique enjoy traditional friendship and bilateral relations have withstood the test of historical vicissitudes and become even firmer as time goes by. The ten cooperation plans between China and Africa put forward by President Xi Jinping at the FOCAC Johannesburg Summit completely accord with Africa’s development needs and will help Africa improve its self-development capacity and enhance its ability to withstand external risks. China has comprehensively started the implementation work of the summit results. We will enhance production capacity cooperation with Mozambique by giving priority to two fields of energy industry and processing and manufacturing industry and forging three supports of infrastructure construction, human resources development and capital and thus become the most ideal, reliable and efficient partner of Mozambique when it is accelerating the industrialization process. Besides, China will boost agricultural cooperation with Mozambique to help the country improve its food self-supply capacity and forge a food security system; deepen peace and security cooperation with Mozambique to improve its ability in safeguarding national security, social stability and sovereign independence.
