Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Ming Visits Mozambique

On April 6, 2017, Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Ming visited Mozambique, during which he respectively met with President Filipe Nyussi and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Oldemiro Baloi, held talks with Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Nyeleti Mondlane, exchanging in-depth views on bilateral relations as well as international and regional issues of common concern.

Zhang Ming expressed that both countries enjoy a long-standing friendship. No matter in the battles for Mozambique's national independence in the 1960s and 1970s or the current efforts in improving national construction and people's livelihood, both China and Mozambique have always shared mutual understanding and supported each other, and established profound friendship. Both sides are always good friends, good partners and good brothers. As a comprehensive strategic cooperative partner, China is willing to make joint efforts with Mozambique to actively push outcomes of the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and the important consensus reached by leaders of both countries for more and faster implementation in Mozambique, so as to benefit the two peoples.

Valuing bilateral traditional friendship, Mozambique stands ready to, together with China, take the implementation of outcomes of the FOCAC Johannesburg Summit and the important consensus reached by both leaders as opportunities, to mainly advance friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation in such areas as agriculture, production capacity cooperation, construction of economic cooperation zone and infrastructure construction, continuously deepen bilateral friendly political and public opinion foundation and enhance coordination and cooperation in international affairs, so as to constantly elevate bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to new highs.

During the visit, Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Ming jointly also attended the signing ceremony of the exchange of notes on China's emergency food aid for Mozambique with Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Nyeleti Mondlane, gave an interview to local mainstream media, and presided over the symposium for Chinese enterprises in Mozambique in the Embassy.
