Li Keqiang Meets with President of the Nigerian Senate David Mark

In the morning of May 13, 2014, Premier Li Keqiang met with President of the Nigerian Senate David Mark at Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai.

Li Keqiang said that on the occasion of having just concluded my visit to the four countries and five parties of Africa, I am very glad to meet with Mr. President of the Senate. Nigeria was an important stop during this visit. The two sides have consolidated the traditional friendship, made new achievements in practical cooperation and deepened the China-Nigeria strategic partnership. Through this visit, I not only came into contact with a rising Nigeria, but also witnessed a fully promising Africa. The Chinese side appreciates the commitment made by the Nigerian side to guarantee the safety of China-funded institutions and personnel in Nigeria.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China is willing to work with African countries including Nigeria, while adhering to the principles of "sincerity, real results, affinity and good faith" and being in accordance with the "461" China-Africa Cooperation Framework, to promote China-Africa all-round mutually beneficial and reciprocal cooperation, especially to expand the bilateral trade and investment, to implement major projects well, and to enhance exchanges in fields such as people-to-people and cultural engagement, in order to push the bilateral relations to a higher level. Hope that the legislative bodies of the two countries can make new contributions to promoting the development of China-Nigeria relations.

Mark congratulated Li Keqiang on the great success of his visit to Africa. He said that the Nigerian side highly appreciates and thanks that Premier Li visited Nigeria as scheduled and attended the World Economic Forum on Africa at the very difficult time of Nigeria, which not only embodies the brotherly friendship between Nigeria and China, but also has boosted the morale of the Nigerian government and people. It was quite a strong support to Nigeria. The Nigerian side welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest in Nigeria, and will provide guarantee of their safety and facilitation. The Nigerian Parliament is looking forward to strengthening exchanges and cooperation with China and jointly promoting the development of Nigeria-China strategic partnership.
