On April 11, 2016, Assistant Foreign Minister Qian Hongshan met with Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bulus Z.Lolo of Nigeria, who was visiting China upon invitation. Both sides exchanged views on the preparation work for the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria to China, China-Nigeria relations and issues of common concern.
