On the afternoon of April 13, 2016, Premier Li Keqiang met at the Great Hall of the People with President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria who was in China for a state visit .

Li Keqiang expressed that since the establishment of China-Nigeria diplomatic relations 45 years ago, bilateral relations have achieved development in an all-around way and yielded substantial outcomes in mutually beneficial cooperation, which has not only benefited both peoples, but also promoted China-Africa cooperation. President Xi Jinping held fruitful talks with you yesterday. China stands ready to work with Nigeria by letting the construction of infrastructures including railway, highway and hydropower stations take the lead, vigorously conducting production capacity cooperation, and boosting the industrialization process of Nigeria so as to achieve mutual benefits and win-win results. The two sides should enhance cooperation in the construction of free trade zones and industrial connection, expand the transfer of agricultural technology and agricultural investment, and carry out cooperation in aviation, mining, finance and other sectors. China encourages competent Chinese enterprises to invest in Nigeria, and hopes that Nigeria could provide sound assurance and support for that.

Li Keqiang pointed out that currently China's overall economic situation maintains a growing momentum in stability, and operates within a reasonable range with increasing positive factors. Such achievement is not easy for a developing economic entity like China whose economic aggregate exceeds ten trillion USD. At the same time, the world economy is undergoing a sluggish recovery and the foundation for aforementioned favorable trend is not solid, which requires us to overcome all kinds of difficulties and challenges, so as to make China's economy maintain a medium-high growth rate and leap to a medium -high level. As the largest economy in Asia and Africa respectively, China and Nigeria enjoy great potential for mutually beneficial cooperation. China is willing to join hands with Nigeria to jointly promote development and prosperity, and make contributions to the recovery and growth of regional and world economy.

Muhammadu Buhari stated that with economic development and social stability, China has made world-known achievements. The Nigerian side appreciates China for treating Nigeria as a cooperative partner for a long time as well as supporting and assisting Nigeria's development. The Nigerian government is ready to work with China on the basis of the sound bilateral relations to push forward cooperation in major infrastructure construction including the coastal railway, highway and hydropower stations, strengthen cooperation in agriculture, mining and manufacturing industry, and boost Nigeria's economic diversification, so as to promote Nigeria-China relations and cooperation to a new level.
