Zhang Dejiang Meets with President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria

On April 13, 2016, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Zhang Dejiang met with President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria at the Great Hall of the People.

Zhang Dejiang expressed that China and Nigeria enjoy profound traditional friendship with close bilateral high-level exchanges and fruitful results in cooperation in various fields. Yesterday, President Xi Jinping and Mr. President drew a comprehensive plan for the development of bilateral relations, which will surely inject new impetus to China-Nigeria strategic partnership. Upholding principles of sincerity, real results, affinity and good faith and correct viewpoint of righteousness and benefit, the NPC is willing to maintain friendly exchanges with the Nigerian National Assembly, jointly promote the implementation of the outcomes yielded from the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation as well as important consensus reached by both leaders, enhance experience exchange on legislation in areas including anti-corruption and judicial assistance, and improve relevant laws on economic and trade cooperation in order to constantly push the cooperation between both legislative bodies to new levels.

Muhammadu Buhari noted that the Nigerian side will actively participate in the ten major China-Africa cooperation plans and stands ready to continuously strengthen exchanges and cooperation between both legislative bodies.
