On July 25, 2023 local time, Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs Wang Yi met with South African Coordinator for the Meeting of BRICS National Security Advisers and High Representatives on National Security and Minister in the Presidency of South Africa Khumbudzo Ntshavheni in Johannesburg.

Wang Yi said that the BRICS mechanism is the most important platform for cooperation among emerging markets and developing countries, conforms to the trend of the times, serves the wishes of most countries, and represents the right direction for moving forward. Faced with the international landscape fraught with changes and turbulence, China supports South Africa in hosting the BRICS Summit, and stands ready to work with South Africa and other BRICS countries to expand and strengthen the BRICS mechanism, firmly advocate multilateralism, actively advance greater democracy in international relations, safeguard the basic norms governing international relations, defend legitimate rights and interests of developing countries, and promote regional and world peace and stability.

Wang Yi pointed out that China will, as always, support South Africa in safeguarding national sovereignty, independence and national dignity, and stands ready to work with South Africa to strengthen high-level interaction, deepen party-to-party exchanges, consolidate political mutual trust, expand cooperation in such fields as economy, trade, and poverty alleviation, and support South Africa in accelerating the process of industrialization, and building capacity for home-grown development. China supports well-established and capable Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in South Africa, and hopes that South Africa will provide Chinese enterprises with a sound and stable business environment. China is ready to deepen China-Africa cooperation with South Africa and other African countries, help African countries realize Agenda 2063 at a faster pace, promote African integration, and inject new impetus into the building of a China-Africa community with a shared future.

Khumbudzo Ntshavheni said that South Africa highly appreciates China's commitment to deepening BRICS cooperation, thanks China for its contribution to the success of the Meeting of BRICS National Security Advisers and High Representatives on National Security, and stands ready to maintain close coordination with China and other BRICS countries, to ensure a complete success of the BRICS Summit, and open up new prospects of BRICS cooperation. South Africa is firmly committed to the one-China policy, and is ready to work with China to enhance high-level interaction, strengthen cooperation in such fields as economy and trade, investment, and mineral processing, and elevate South Africa-China relations and Africa-China relations to a new level.
