On the evening of August 24, 2023 local time, President Xi Jinping returned to China after attending the 15th BRICS Summit and paying a state visit to South Africa.

Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee Cai Qi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, and other  members of the entourage returned on the same plane.

Upon Xi Jinping's departure from Johannesburg, South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Grace Naledi Mandisa Pandor and other senior government officials saw him off at the airport.
