On December 6, 2023, Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu met with Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa Alvin Botes who was in China to attend the international symposium on human rights.

The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on human rights, BRICS cooperation, Palestinian-Israeli issue, China-Africa cooperation and other issues of mutual interest and concern.
