On August 1, 2015, State Councilor Yang Jiechi met at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse with Sam Kutesa, President of the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and Foreign Minister of Uganda.

Yang Jiechi expressed that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the UN as well as the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War. China hopes that the international community will make joint efforts to propel the series of UN summits to be held in September for positive results, maintain world peace and promote common development.

Sam Kutesa congratulated China on its successful bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics Games and appreciated China for its support to the work of the UN. Sam Kutesa said that the UN is willing to work closely with China to take effective actions on formulating the post-2015 development agenda and dealing with the global climate change.
