Special Envoy of President Xi Jinping Attends Inauguration Ceremony of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of Uganda

On May 13, 2016 local time, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of Uganda met at the Presidential Palace with Special Envoy of President Xi Jinping and Vice Chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Yan Junqi.

Yan Junqi conveyed President Xi Jinping's warm congratulations and best wishes to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, and thanked him for the meeting. Yan Junqi expressed that China and Uganda enjoy a profound traditional friendship. Over the 54 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Uganda, bilateral relations have always developed soundly and stably, coupled with productive cooperation in various fields. China supports Uganda's independent choice of the development path and its efforts in developing economy and improving people's livelihood, and stands ready to work closely with Uganda to jointly implement the consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, so as to constantly push bilateral relations up to new heights.

Yoweri Kaguta Museveni thanked President Xi Jinping for sending a special envoy to attend his inauguration ceremony, and asked the special envoy to convey his warm greetings and sincere friendship to President Xi Jinping. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni expressed that China is a good friend of Uganda and the African people, and that the two sides have always supported each other. In recent years, Uganda-China practical cooperation with mutual benefit in various areas has continuously been deepening. Uganda is satisfied with that and is willing to further expand cooperation with China, and focus on reinforcing cooperation in industry, agriculture, investment and trade, infrastructure construction, tourism and other fields, so as to better benefit the two peoples.

On May 12, Yan Junqi attended the inauguration ceremony of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni held in Kampala, the capital of Uganda.
